Dundee: Geoff Leask


Geoff is on a mission to support charities and third-sector organisations to be the best they can be. His work is founded on 20-plus years experience of working in the third sector. Most recently, Geoff served as CEO of Young Enterprise Scotland. Before that, he spent 12 years with the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT). This included 8 years of regional responsibility before joining the senior management team and going on to serve as Director.

In addition to his current Trustee role with The Merchant’s House Geoff has served as a Non-Executive Director with the Economic Development Association of Scotland (EDAS) and is currently a Trustee with the Merchants House, Elevator Foundation and Stirling Community Media.

As well as having been a regular commentator with the Glasgow Herald, he was awarded the Great Britain Entrepreneurial Champion Silver Award 2015, was shortlisted by the Herald Society as Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 and was a finalist in the IOD Scotland Third Sector Director of the Year Awards in 2019.
 

East Ayrshire: Fiona Bain


Fiona was brought up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is passionate about communities and the people that live in them. She graduated from Rhodes University before returning to the UK to work as a practitioner in a care setting for children. Fiona has since developed and managed residential education care settings and outreach teams within the third sector for 25 years with a specific focus on children and young people with additional support needs..

Fiona also managed a Scottish Government project developing information and support services for children, young people and adults who have autism. She sat on the board for Social Enterprise Scotland in Glasgow City in 2018/2019. She also led a project managing third sector partners within Glasgow supporting them to think differently about how they may support people with additional barriers to work.

With a strong passion for well-being and equity driving her, she is currently in a project coordination role at What Matters to You in East Ayrshire. Advocating and driving the change agenda for children, young people and families #KeepThePromise
