Safe, compassionate termination of pregnancy services in Dundee

NHS Tayside and What Matters to You are working together to enhance access to high-quality, compassionate support around termination of pregnancy in communities across Dundee.
This project is grounded in a shared commitment to supporting communities, particularly women and young people, with warmth, dignity and expert medical care during what can be a deeply personal and difficult time. The team of trained professionals delivering this service offers not just clinical expertise, but emotional support and a safe, non-judgemental environment for anyone seeking care.
From the first point of contact, visitors to the service are supported by trained practitioners who ensure medical and emotional needs are met in a way that is tailored, inclusive, and judgement-free. The service is available to everyone aged 12 and over and is designed to offer clear, accessible information about reproductive health choices and support pathways.
Th project also supports broader community outreach efforts aimed at improving education around sexual health and reproductive choices. By working closely with local community groups, the team is helping ensure that women and young people understand their rights, know where to turn for help and feel safe asking questions about their health.
Greg Caldwell, Clinical Consultant Gynaecologist at NHS Tayside, said:
The clinical team in Gynaecology services within Ninewells Hospital are experts in their field and provide vital emotional and medical support to everyone who uses our services. Our staff will always treat patients with privacy, dignity and respect no matter what circumstances bring them to us. We’re working closely with partners in the community to ensure that, when our services are needed, anyone knows they can come to us for support.
