Critical to WM2U is spending time truly listening to families, building trust and developing our relationships to find out what matters to them.

Working with the Clackmamannanshire Council Family Wellbeing Partnership (FWP) we are delighted to be working alongside a group of parents at the Bowmar Centre in a new group called 'Crochet Comforts'.

Following up on an idea put forward by one of the parents to hold  'Crochet' Sessions' the group, supported by the Community Learning & Development (CLD) team are now finding huge benefits to themselves and the community within which they live.

•    “I have met new people”. (parent)
•    We get a very warm welcome within the centre – always a cup of coffee with the CLD Team”. (parent)
•    “It is the first time a local young parent with two kids has engaged in anything like this”. (CLD Team)
•    “I have developed new skills” (parent).
•    “I am now happy to teach young people from school new skills at the Centre who are not engaging in school”. (parent)
•    “One parent has been inspired to now lead on arts and crafts with young people.” (CLD Team).

Plans are now progressing for the leader of the group to deliver sessions for young people from school and ways in which the group can become sustainable through sponsorship and local fundraising events.

We look forward to walking alongside the group as they continue to knit more connections in their community.
